On the move to help others groove
In early 2024, ConcentricLife collaborated with college students from Harvey Mudd on their capstone project. It began with their vision to help disabled children engage in physical activities for essential therapy, all within a budget-friendly framework. Following interviews with physical therapists and the formulation of their project scope, the ConcentricLife team delved into various domains including strategy, medical expertise, artistic elements, and UX/UI to support the build of the optimal physical dance therapy app.
Behind the scenes
I maintained organization by constructing a Figma chart to delineate current priorities from those that could be deferred for later attention.
Following the art team's generous contribution of a color palette and typography, style guides were provided to enhance the students' comprehension and execution.
I created a clear, high-level user flow to map out the core experience, then developed detailed sub-flows to cover potential edge cases. This gave the college students a solid foundation to understand the user journey and confidently move forward with building their app.

What This Taught Me
The high school students successfully delivered their senior capstone presentation and showcased a working MVP of their app. It was rewarding to see them take ownership of the project and apply the UX foundations we built together.

Looking back, I wish I had taken a more hands-on approach in tracking their progress between sessions. While I often gave verbal feedback during meetings, I missed the opportunity to document and organize ongoing usability issues or system bugs in a clearer, more actionable way. A shared tracker or feedback log would have helped both sides stay aligned and made it easier to prioritize improvements. This experience taught me the value of consistent documentation when mentoring others through a design-to-development process.
